The Harry Harpham Foundation, launched by Gill Furniss MP on Saturday 9th June 2018, was set up in honour of the late MP for Brightside, Harry Harpham, who sadly passed away in 2016 following a short battle with cancer.
The foundation will raise money for community projects – particularly focusing on those projects with a positive impact on young people through sports – within the constituency of Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough.
Speaking at the launch of the Foundation, Gill Furniss MP said: “After Harry passed, I was determined to start a charity in his memory so his legacy can live on forever.
‘Harry was passionate about the advancements of young people in our community. He was focussed on working hard to ensure there were sufficient local activities, such as sports, available for young people in Sheffield.’
As a big football fan and follower of all sports he would have loved to have seen more sporting projects in our community helping to develop our young people. After discussions with SYCF regarding my vision they were able to help facilitate this and I am extremely grateful to them.”
Small grants will be available to apply for through SYCF website, please feel free to contact the Office of Gill Furniss MP for more information on this.
Donations to the Harry Harpham Foundation can be sent in cheque or cash form to Gill’s constituency office (cheques made payable to South Yorkshire Community Foundation) or through the official Just Giving webpage.
